San Francisco, CA. Urgent: Join the Media Blitz for Homeless Families on Tuesday! 1/21

January 16, 2025 by Jonathan Leave a Comment

Dear Community,

We need your help to ensure homeless families in San Francisco are prioritized for housing, not left on the streets. Please join us this Tuesday, January 21st, between 9 AM and 5 PM, for a 3-step media blitz to demand action from Mayor Daniel Lurie.

Background

Homelessness among families in San Francisco has doubled over the past two years. The situation is dire:

  • 500 families were on the shelter waitlist, but the city changed the eligibility criteria instead of finding solutions in December. About a third of these families were removed from the list if they lived in hotels or were doubled up.
  • Families in shelters have received eviction notices, with move-out dates as soon as February 8th. These families were not informed of how to apply for extensions.
  • Frantic and fearful, these families face the very real threat of being forced onto the streets.

Mayor Lurie must act immediately to address this crisis. Families deserve housing, not uncertainty and fear.

Participate in our 3-step media blitz  Tuesday, January 21st to amplify the voices of these vulnerable families where we will:

  1. Email Mayor Lurie
  2. Call Mayor Lurie’s Office
  3. Post on Social Media

Together, we can send a powerful message: Families deserve housing, not eviction. Please participate and share this action with your friends, family, and community.

Thank you for standing with us and with the families who need us most. Please see the attachments for more information which includes flyers and a social media toolkit. Spread the word! TOGETHER WE CAN!

In solidarity,

COHSF

Querida comunidad,

¡JUNTOS PODEMOS!

En solidaridad,

COHSF

This action not only jeopardizes the safety of vulnerable children but also raises critical questions about local governance and social responsibility.
