San Francisco, CA. Press Conference and Give Comment at Homeless Oversight Commission

September 3, 2024 by Jonathan Leave a Comment

Please join the Coalition on Homelessness and partner organizations in a press conference on Thursday, September 5th at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall in Room 278 in response to the City’s aggressive August crackdown on unhoused San Franciscans. Join us to call upon the City to establish an effective street response to homelessness that results in housing placements!

After our brief press conference, please join us in attending the Homeless Oversight Commission (HOC) meeting at City Hall in Room 416, or by call-in to give public comment. The HOC agenda now includes Item #13: “A Review and Possible Vote of a Drafted HOC Statement Regarding Homeless Vital Record and Property Loss,” ensuring that we will be able to give comment on the City’s confiscation and trashing of unhoused people’s property and valuables.

For those that cannot join in-person, here are the call-in instructions for the HOC’s meeting during the public comment section after Item 13:

  • Dial 415-655-0001 and enter access code 2663 222 8706 then #; Press # again to join the meeting.
  • When the Secretary calls for Public Comment, dial ‘*/STAR’ then ‘3’ to be added to the speaker line.
  • You will then hear, “You have raised your hand to ask a question. Please wait to speak until the host calls on you.”
  • When the Chair or Commission Secretary states “Welcome Caller,” you are encouraged to state your name clearly. 3-minute time limit, unless otherwise noted.

Best,
Lukas Illa

People-Powered Change Wins They say “the revolutio People-Powered Change Wins
They say “the revolution will not be funded.” And it’s true. Those in power currently rely on vast amounts of money to orchestrate their influence. We are organizing more and more PEOPLE into this movement to bring down systemic oppression and build a more just society. We are inherently PEOPLE-POWERED.
