Read this article showing UC Health’s recent uptick in frostbite cases. They have seen more cases this far in winter than all of last winter total.
Meanwhile the City continues to Sweep houseless people and their property in freezing weather – on Thursday 1/26/23 the City swept a group of people in 18 degrees (though weather said it “feels like 7”. Houseless people sat out of their tents shivering and could barley move to pack their things.
During this extreme cold Mutual Aid Monday is again holding down warming tents at 14th and Bannock for houseless people to stay warm. They need donations of sleeping bags, blankets, handwarmers, socks, coats, gloves, hot food, coffee, and the like to take out to camps around the city where people need this gear to survive. Bring donations to 14th and Bannock today or tomorrow or donate money at Venmo: @MutualAidMonday.
