My mother, Miriam Poole, lived in Sacramento with her husband and family from 1957 – 2003. She moved to Berkeley and Oakland in 2003 after her husband died, to be near me, her daughter. She passed away at 96 in 2006.

One of the greatest memories of my mother is how I would buy her all sorts of new clothes and coats, bring them to Sacramento for her and within weeks, when I returned for my next visit to her, her closet would be empty. I found out that she would look at it and then request a ride to Loaves and Fishes, where she would donate all of these items. I loved that about her, so continued bringing clothes to her, only to find them gone on my next trip.

She loved the spirit and work of Loaves and Fishes. Thank you for all that you do.

The recent decision by the Denver City Council not The recent decision by the Denver City Council not to fund shelters for unhoused families has significant implications for the community. This action not only jeopardizes the safety of vulnerable children but also raises critical questions about local governance and social responsibility. We must advocate for housing justice and support policies that protect the rights of all community members. #HousingJustice #CommunityAdvocacy #SocialResponsibility #Denver #Unhoused
