A heightened wave of attacks have been sweeping through America’s immigrant communities over the past two years. The Trump Administration has continuously attempted to construct a wall of policies fed by false xenophobic hysteria that threatens to undermine the very fundamental nature of the United States as a nation of from widely diverse backgrounds.

Through street posters and photography of protest actions, Immigration Emergency: In Defense & Defiance seeks to educate, agitate, and create solidarity around a broad range of issues. More than 30 artists produce powerful artworks in response to the Muslim Ban, DACA, proposed changes to the Public Charge Rule, Sanctuary Cities, ICE raids and detention, family separations, the fake border emergency and Trump’s wall, the 2020 Census, the revoking of Temporary Protected Status, and the rise of deportations of Southeast Asians. These artworks highlight urgent issues that demand a response and commitment from all who view this exhibit to focus greater attention and support towards local communities adversely impacted by these actions.

The posters in this exhibit feature a diverse cohort of artists ranging from seasoned veterans of political art including Kathy Aoki, Nancy Hom, Juan Fuentes and Jos Sances, to newcomers cutting their teeth on their first political works. Many of the artists are part of the San Francisco Poster Syndicate, an alliance of political poster makers who create and distribute their work in support of political actions. Photographers David Bacon, Francisco Dominguez and Daniel Valencia lend an air of immediacy through their photography of struggles for justice on immigration issues.
Artists include Sarah Aineb, Scott Anderson, Kathy Aoki, David Bacon, Zulfikar Bhutto, Sam Companatico, Jules Cowan, Francisco Dominguez, Terry Forman, Juan Fuentes, Ryan Harrison, Art Hazelwood, Nancy Hom, Lucia Ippolito, Frances Jetter, Mike Keum, Kate Laster, Jonathan Lopez, Marti McKee, Doug Minkler, Rene Morrison, Nicholas Naughton, Mokhtar Paki, Patrick Piazza, Calixto Robles, Carlos Rodriguez, Jhovany Rodriguez, Joanna Ruckman, Sara Samano, Jos Sances, San Francisco Poster Syndicate, Jusun Seo, Toru Sugita, Daniel Valencia, Xavier Viramontes, Michelle Williams, Imin Yeh

¡Acompáñanos a celebrar nuestra resistencia!

With the intensified attacks on all of our communities; artwork remains a powerful tool to share our experiences, understand each other’s struggles, and broaden the collective fight for a better future.
Since the passage of the Big Fascist Bill, communities in man-made vulnerable positions face even harsher hostilities from shrinking accessibility to social services to criminalization of queer and trans people to the kidnapping of our immigrant neighbors. The list goes on and on but we won’t let these fascists take away our dignity, instead we will come together and bridge our fights!

The way through is together!

Let us sing.
Let us dance.
Let us break bread.

Let us come together to learn about each other’s struggles and share resources. The evening will also include a raffle showcasing swag from WRAP members, local artist contributions, and many more!!!
