Wood Street Documentary, Upcoming Screening October 25th!

October 20, 2025 by Jonathan Leave a Comment

Good Morning Wood Street Friends and Family!

I wanted to update you on an event we have coming up soon– we’ll be hosting a preview screening and panel Q&A at Bathers Library on Saturday Oct. 25, at 7PM. We’re showing some scenes from the in-progress film and hosting a panel with members of Wood Street Commons. Tickets are limited but walk-ins are welcome!

We’ve really appreciate your continued support as we try to fundraise to finish the Wood Street documentary, and we’ve made a lot of positive progress since we completed our crowdfunding campaign earlier this summer:

• In September, John and LaMonté were able to watch the most recent cut of the film at a private screening at the Roxie Theater in San Francisco.
• We participated in the Gotham Week Project Market at the end of last month, where the team traveled to NYC and pitched the film to industry executives.
• And soon the film’s director is traveling to Czechia to participate in the Ji.Hlava New Visions Forum, a pitch competition at Eastern Europe’s largest film festival, where we hope to build our international audience.

We are still deep in the editing process trying to finish before the end of the year. We’ve started submitting to film festivals, with the goal of premiering in Spring 2026. This all takes a lot of time, effort, and funding to make happen, and we are asking for your support once again.

You can make a tax deductible donation to the film through our fiscal sponsor. Or you can buy a ticket and come to our preview screening on October 25 at Bathers Library in downtown Oakland.

Any support you can offer in donations, or sharing about the film with friends and loved ones is so appreciated, and is essential to helping us bring the film to life.

Keep an eye out for more events by following us on Instagram at @woodstmovie. We look forward to seeing you at our next event:

Saturday, October 25 at Bathers Library, 2310 Telegraph Ave. Oakland CA, from 7-9PM
Tickets still available – Donations between $10-$15 recommended – Masks required

Thank you so much for your continued support. We couldn’t make this film without you!

In Community,
Wood Street Leadership

The recent decision by the Denver City Council not The recent decision by the Denver City Council not to fund shelters for unhoused families has significant implications for the community. This action not only jeopardizes the safety of vulnerable children but also raises critical questions about local governance and social responsibility. We must advocate for housing justice and support policies that protect the rights of all community members. #HousingJustice #CommunityAdvocacy #SocialResponsibility #Denver #Unhoused
