The Salvation Army has proven they cannot be trusted with operating shelters for vulnerable people. Countless serious incidents have happened at TSA operated shelters including well know atrocities like the murders, stabings, and a staff member raping resident at Doubletree. Incidents are not just isolated to Doubletree. Staff mistreatment of guests, including sexual relations and abuse, kicking disabiled people to the streets for not being able to care for themselves, and countless more serious safety issues have taken place at Crossroads as well. Read direct quotes from residents of Crossroads and Doubletree here and here.
This decision is in the City Council’s hands now. It is their responsibility to hold providers and the Mayor’s office accountable and deny contracts with any provider who is not doing the job they are contracted to do.
If the City Council approves these contracts with TSA to continue business as usual they are approving of muder, rape, mistreatment, neglect, and just plan inhumane treatment of our community.
Please contact the City Council TODAY and demand their NO vote on contracts with the Salvation Army!! https://www.denvergov.org/Government/Agencies-Departments-Offices/Agencies-Departments-Offices-Directory/Denver-City-Council/Council-Members-Websites-Info
