The new mayor has called for a City Council workshop on homelessness to discuss “new” strategies and priorities. A recent proposal, by the head of the Department of Community Response, to charge residents for the use of the Emergency Homeless Response System was met with community shock and the news reporting related to that proposal led to the announcement of this workshop, ITEM 25 on the agenda (read more HERE).
We are inviting out all those who care about the deepening crises of housing insecurity and homelessness, who believe we can and must build a stronger community where everyone has a safe and decent place to call home – and where the most vulnerable among us are not also the targets of repetitious and cruel state violence.
