San Francisco, CA. Join Us at the Homeless Oversight Commission Meeting – Demand Shelter Grievance Due Process for Homeless Families!

March 31, 2025 by Jonathan Leave a Comment

THIS THURSDAY, PLEASE JOIN US AT CITY HALL, ROOM 416 AT 9:00 AM!

¡ESTE JUEVES, ÚNASE A NOSOTROS EN EL AYUNTAMIENTO, SALA 416 A LAS 9:00 AM!

Join Us at the Homeless Oversight Commission Meeting – Demand Shelter Grievance Due Process for Homeless Families!

Homelessness among families in San Francisco has doubled in the past two years, yet the city has responded by reducing shelter stays and restricting access to shelter waitlists. Families can now only stay in shelters for a limited time, with extensions granted in 30-day increments—but only if they participate in case management.

Now more than ever, we must ensure that families are not wrongly denied shelter extensions. The Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (DHSH) claims that these denials cannot be appealed under the shelter grievance procedure, leaving families without due process. This is a violation of their rights.

Join us at the Homeless Oversight Commission meeting to demand that the city uphold its shelter grievance ordinance—allowing families to appeal extension denials, access advocates, and receive fair hearings. Let’s stand together to protect homeless families!

They say “the revolution will not be funded.” And it’s true. Those in power currently rely on vast amounts of money to orchestrate their influence. We are organizing more and more PEOPLE into this movement to bring down systemic oppression and build a more just society. We are inherently PEOPLE-POWERED.
