Hello amazing endorsers and coalition members!
First off, thank you for all of your enduring support for the Right to Rest Act. This legislative session is confusing and convoluted, and your faith in the positive impact of this bill makes the struggle worth it.
We face numerous obstacles such as a delayed bill number and committee assignment, as well as losing a couple co-sponsors from 2021. However, Rep. Chaichi (Chief Sponsor) and Rep. Pham (Co-Sponsor) continue to move this bill forward and advocate on our behalf.
These challenges speak to the amount of resistance this bill is facing in our state legislature. Our continued people power is necessary in order to counter all of the moneyed interests lobbying for this bill to fail. I also want to personally apologize for not giving as many updates during this legislative season – to be honest, we didn’t have a lot of updates until the last couple of weeks. However, I’m committed to more frequent updates and timely calls to action!
Main Updates
> Bill number: HB3501
> Committee Placement: Housing & Homelessness
> Committee Chair: Rep. Maxine Dexter
*We also have a website! Check it out: www.R2RAct.org*
