These pictures show property of shelter residents at the 48th street shelter taken from residents who were not there for a night and trashed the next morning. The shelter has a practice of trashing the property of anyone who is not there for a night. They have storage bins for resident’s property but those bins will be emptied and trashed if you are not there for a night. Some residents are not there because they are at the hospital, or a job, or for any other reason.
Below see pictures documenting the process of shelter staff trashing residents property, as well as an incident report from one of many residents who had their property trashed after going to the hospital.
