Jerr-E-ville in the rain…people show up every day needing a place to stay and we are out of tents…!
Survival Gear Needed
Even if it is getting a bit warmer, people need sleeping bags and tents and tarps to sleep warm and dry. We give out this gear every day at our office but we are clean out. If you can donate a tent, tarp, sleeping bag, or big blanket we will get it to someone who really needs it.
Contact us at info@denverhomelessoutloud.org, 720-940-5291, or come to the office between 2-5 M-F.

Rehearing Petition Rejected In Martin v. Boise Ruling!!
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals . . . rejected a petition Monday for a rehearing from the city of Boise, Idaho, in the case of Martin v. Boise. The court essentially maintained its September 2018 ruling that prosecuting or otherwise punishing homeless people for sleeping on the street if they have nowhere else to go qualifies as “cruel and unusual punishment” and is unconstitutional.
. . .
“[O]rdinances criminalizing sleeping in public places were never a viable solution to the homelessness problem,” Judge Marsha S. Berzon wrote in Monday’s opinion. “People with no place to live will sleep outside if they have no alternative.”

If Denver continues to violate our constitutional rights in enforcing the local “camping ban” [aka survival ban] it may have to end up in the courts.
Lets take action now to protect the human and constitutional rights of Denverites.
