Thank you to everyone who showed up in support of THE RIGHT TO SURVIVE! We had a sold-out show and raised $13,000 for the campaign. Your ticket prices and contributions are invaluable in this campaign. As a coalition of people experiencing homelessness and allies, we know this is an uphill battle — we’re up against people with a lot of money, and they’re using everything they’ve got.
But we also know it’s a fight worth fighting.
The opposition is talking a lot about how Yes on 300 is inhumane because people shouldn’t live on the streets. We agree that no one should have to live without shelter.
Listen to the people who have experienced homelessness, and know firsthand what the camping ban means:
But the reality is that forcing people to “move along,” or to try to sleep without even a blanket, is not going to help anyone.
The reality is that there aren’t enough shelter spaces, and that shelters aren’t an option for everyone.
The reality is that criminalizing homelessness does more harm than good.
