SoCal Homeless Bill of Rights Supporters,
In lieu of this month’s meeting, please join us for an action THIS Saturday, October 1st at 10am regarding the campaign to stop the Venice Business Improvement District (BID) formation. More info below and on the attached flyer.
See you all Saturday!
Eric
Several Venice commercial property owners and the City of Los Angeles are partnering to establish a BID in Venice Beach.
BIDs are comprised solely of commercial property owners, exclude the voices of other Venice businesses, residents, and stakeholders, and have a long history in the City of promoting gentrification, increasing division among stakeholders, and illegally targeting homeless residents with privately run security patrols. The proposed Venice Beach BID will also include about $450,000 a year in City general funds with virtually no City or public oversight.
Due to hearing violations by the City Council, the entire BID election process is starting over. Now is the perfect time to make your voice heard!
Join us Saturday, Oct 1st to find out more information, discuss how to prevent the BID’s approval, and how to hold a BID accountable if it does get approved!
10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Oakwood Rec Center
767 California Ave, Venice, 90291
