WRAP celebrated 10 years of community organizing, direct action, research, street theater, building power and fighting for freedom and dignity for all this past weekend in Portland, Oregon.
With speakers from Development Director of WRAP Monica Beemer, Executive Director of WRAP member group Street Roots Israel Bayer, and Executive Director of WRAP Paul Boden, we reflected on the past 10 years of kicking ass and continuing to broaden our fight towards eliminating homelessness. WRAP was honored with the styling of DJ Kimberlily and renowned hip hop artist extraordinaire Mic Crenshaw.
Thank you to all of those who sponsored the concert, helped set up and take down and came out to support 10 years of WRAP! Special shout out to our amazing Portland-based member groups Sisters of the Road, Street Roots and Right 2 Survive. It has been a delight to struggle with you all and demand rights for poor and homeless people all across the country. We hope you will continue to stand with us as we advance our organizing against the criminalization of homelessness and our demands on the federal level for affordable housing for all.
As Mic Crenshaw says, “we are our own superheroes, fighting for our lives!” and we are only growing stronger.
