Denver, CO. City Report Back on Sweeps Audit – Sweeps Continue While the City Tries to Hide Them!@$

On March 20th 2025 the City had a follow up meeting with the Auditors office regarding the sweeps audit done last year. You can watch the meeting here https://denver.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=44. 

In this report back, the City touted NO SWEEPS since April 2024!! But at the same time they reported daily enforcement, involving property removal, against houseless people!! 

When asked to define what they mean by ‘encampment’ the City stated, ‘A shopping cart in an alley, really anyone staying on the streets’. They explained that any 311 call of a houseless person(s) is understood to be an encampment. 

They went on to say ‘There are still plenty of people on the streets unsheltered.’ 

All their own statements here and their own records of enforcement show the Cities claim of no sweeps for a year is a LIE! 

The City has used careful tactics to hide sweeps by increasing enforcement to prevent houseless people from even setting up a tent or gathering with more than a couple people so that no large encampments are ever formed and therefore all sweeps are done without written notice and without visibility.  

But as they admit in this report back on sweeps audit, sweeps do actually continue every day!!#$ Just hidden…

Don’t let the lies deceive you… A sweep is a sweep no matter what the name, visibility, size, etc…
