Ahmed Alkhatib is a volunteer at WRAP. He came to the US in 2005 from Gaza City, Palestine with a cultural exchange program. However, when the program was over he was unable to return home due to the ongoing war and border closure. Instead, he returned to the US and received political asylum status. In the US, he connected with the struggle of poor people, especially the homeless, who reminded him so much of Palestinian families and individuals losing their homes due to demolition and violence. He was stunned by the number of homeless people in the richest and most powerful country in the world. He joined WRAP hoping to contribute to poor people's struggle to gain human rights and dignity. He hopes to utilize the experience he gains in advancing his own people's struggle for justice and human rights. Paul Boden is the Executive Director of WRAP. He became homeless at the age of 16 after the death of his mother. He began volunteering at a drop-in shelter in San Francisco in 1983, eventually becoming a program director there. He then worked as a case manager in a supportive hotel program for mentally ill people. Paul served as Executive Director of San Francisco's Coalition on Homelessness for 16 years and was a founder of the Community Housing Partnership, a nationally recognized permanent housing corporation with optional supportive services. He served as president of its Board for 10 years. Paul was also a board member of the National Coalition for the Homeless and co-chair of its civil rights and grassroots organizing workgroup. He has received dozens of community awards during the last twenty-five years and recognition from the city and county of San Francisco, the State of California, and the Congress of the United States. Paul regularly writes articles and op-eds and travels throughout the country giving talks and trainings. Michael Callahan-Kapoor is WRAP’s Managing Director. He is a member of Critical Resistance and part of The Abolitionist editorial collective. He works locally to transform the root causes of state and interpersonal violence. Mikey Chapman serves as WRAP’s Office Manager. Prior to coming to WRAP he volunteered at the Coalition on Homelessness, San Francisco for 15 years. He helped develop the Community Housing Partnership and was one of its original tenants, and resides there today. Mikey is a ninth-grade dropout, who was homeless for ten years starting in 1981. He has experience in both the military and the criminal justice system. Marlene Griffith is WRAP's volunteer wordsmith. Her editing prowess is all over our literature. She is a writer, editor, and teacher. She taught English at Laney College in Oakland where she also helped initiate Project Bridge, an integrated basic skills program. She is the co-author of Democracy's Open Door: the Community College in America's future. Ruth Pleaner is the Fiscal Coordinator of WRAP.
