WRAP works with established national homeless advocacy organizations to push for change at the highest levels of government. We introduce them to a model of advocacy that is rooted in the daily experiences of homeless people. We work together with these organizations to move the national agenda to one that resonates with the visions and needs of the local communities we represent.
WRAP’s current national allies are:
- Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights champions the legal rights of people of color, poor people, immigrants and refugees, with a special commitment to African-Americans.
- National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY), a national grassroots membership association, serves as the voice and the social conscience for the education of children and youth in homeless situations. NAEHCY connects educators, parents, advocates, researchers, and service providers to ensure school enrollment and attendance, and overall success for children and youth whose lives have been disrupted by the lack of safe, permanent, and adequate housing. NAEHCY accomplishes these goals through advocacy, partnerships, and education.
- National Health Care for the Homeless Council (NHCHC) is a home for those who work to improve the health of homeless people and who seek housing, health care, and adequate incomes for everyone. In NHCHC, agencies and individuals, clinicians and advocates, homeless people and housed people come together for mutual support and learning opportunities, and to advance the cause of human rights.
- National Policy and Advocacy Council on Homelessness is a grass roots anti-poverty organization. Our mission is to ensure that national homelessness policy accurately reflects the needs and experiences of local communities.
- North American Street Newspaper Association exists to support and build effective, self-sustaining street newspapers that promote opportunities for people living in poverty and public awareness of issues of concern to the poor, homeless, socially excluded communities.
- Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign is building a movement that unites the poor across color lines. Poverty afflicts Americans of all colors. Daily more and more of us are downsized and impoverished. We share a common interest in uniting against the prevailing conditions and around our vision of a society where we all have the right to health care, housing, living wage jobs, and access to quality primary, secondary, and higher education.
